Our BIRTH story

It was Saturday, January 21st (I was 38 wks and 2 days) and we were planning to go see my cousin who had a baby about a month ago in GA.(only about an hour and half away) I went to the bathroom that morning and was spotting. I had heard of this before but tried not to freak out. I called my mom and we discussed how it was probably normal but I should call the doctor. I continued getting ready and waited to call. We packed everything that we would need for the hospital (JUST in case!)

We left the house and headed to see JD and Rachel. I was still spotting at times it was worse than others and I was having some cramping. I finally decided to call the doctor after we stopped to eat and the spotting was getting worse and the cramping was getting closer. She told me that I was probably in active labor since I was bleeding but to wait until my contractions got stronger before coming in. We called both our parents just to let them know what was going on.

We left my cousins house and went to meet my mom and sister to shop and Nic was going home. Little did I know that my contractions would get stronger so I called him to come back. We ran over to the hospital to get checked. I was in labor but only 2 cm and didn't make any progress so they released us. We went to eat and my contractions continued getting stronger. We left to go home and on the way home they were about 5 minutes apart and getting stronger. So we decided to head back to Chattanooga.  My mom was already down there so she decided to stay with us. We got a motel room, the same one we stayed in on our honey moon!

About 12 am we went back to the hospital. I was having a lot stronger contractions. They admitted us at about 1:30 am.

My contractions were getting a lot stronger...they gave me my epidural at about 3 am!!! I was so glad! Then they broke my water. I went from a 4 to 7 cm in about an hour. I still had nothing I was just in labor. Then....everything started changing. I didn't like the epidural very well it went up to high I thought and then her heart rate started dropping:( They told us we were going to have to have a C-section because she wasn't tolerating my contractions. I was devastated, heart broken, you name it. I really wanted to push and have a semi-natural birth. But at this point we wanted our sweet little girl out and healthy. So off we went....and I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story!!

This picture was taken when we first arrived at the hospital.

I love that my husband calls on the name of the Lord when we need him the most. To him be the glory of all of this!!!

She is here 10:35 am 6 lbs 1 oz!!! Look at those precious feet!

The first time Nic held Mia!!! Love at first sight!

38 Weeks

Here is my 38 week pictures....

My friend Melissa took these pictures for me on the Wednesday before I went into labor on Saturday! I am so glad that she took these for me so I can remember the way I actually looked before I gave birth!!

I loved being pregnant and enjoyed every minute of it! I actually miss all the little kicks. I always heard people say this and didn't understand, but now I do! Its such an amazing feeling being pregnant!!! But O the feeling of holding her in my arms.....Is beyond what I ever imagined it would be! We are completely in love. I will post the birth story the next chance I get!

36 Weeks

I was 36 weeks last Thursday! We had an ultra sound and Mia is weighing around 6 lbs 7 oz. Our Dr. said this is perfect normal weight and on track for around a 7 pounder!!! We will see though! I am making progress already which I was actually shocked. I was almost 2 cm and 70 % effaced. But of course I can be this way for weeks....so we will see when I go this Thursday if I have made any more progress! We are getting so excited to meet our little girl! Everything is almost ready! and now the waiting begins ha!

My belly has for sure stuck out  A LOT more! And a lot of people are telling me it has dropped but I cant tell other than it being big!
